Time To Disband Monticello's Antiquated "Manager Form Of Government", For The 21st Century

March 18, 2011

Sullivan County Board of Elections
Government Center
Monticello, New York 12701

To Whom It May Concern:

Attached is a copy of the Petition form on which to collect signatures for the discontinuance of the manager form of government in the Village of Monticello, in accordance with the former Article 15-A of the New York State Village Law.

I am instituting this petition to eliminate a wasteful and outdated political patronage post, to lead Monticello into the 21st century under the laws of the State of New York as they exist today. Of the state's 556 incorporated villages, only 72 still have Managers/Administrators. [source]

Please advise as to the time-frame within which signatures on this petition may be dated in order to appear on the ballot in the next Village election.

Respectfully,

Carmen Rue, Village Trustee
